First, I admit I am biased as I am a TN native, huge lifelong UT fan but Clemson grad so I have no great love for UNC. However I don't see the attraction for a real football player to go to UNC unless you have been a fan your whole life and don't have any interest in going anyplace else.
For example, UNC had an average attendance last year of 54,667 fans and that was up 6% over the previous year as compared to UT's average of 99,754 which was also up 4% but you can see the MAJOR difference in the interest generated by the two schools. We have almost twice the number of fans at out games and they are passionate about their football. If UNC and their fans had a real interest in football rather than it being something to just pass the time until basketball season started like Kentucky then they would have a real stadium with at least 80K plus seats.
Given all the known violations in the UNC academics program over the past years surely there are going to be some penalties handed down but knowing UNC they will have the clout to get out of it.
UNC doesn't play in the best conference in the US which is the SEC or even the second best or third. You are NEVER EVER going to get the national TV attention at UNC that you will at UT, You will never have the same level of coaches at UNC that you do at UT, You will NEVER EVER have the same level of facilities at UNC that you do at UT, you will never play against the best of the best week after week to prepare you for the NFL if you think you can play at the next level, you are NEVER going to go to a major Bowl the way you can at UT because UNC will NEVER EVER attain anything close to the same ranking in football, you will NEVER EVER win even a conference championship because too many football focused teams are now in the ACC and have passed you by. Even NC State has passed UNC up because of the better coaching but they both suck in regard to everything else compared to UT.
I do not think you will find anything close to the same level of support for the players that you will with CBJ and UT on the playing field or off of it unless you are talking about taking classes that are a total joke where the players don't have to attend class and get someone else to write the final paper for them.
Perhaps if you want to go where all your friends are going and are afraid to step up and run with the big boys then perhaps UNC is the school to go to but if you want to man up and find out what you are made of then there is really no comparison between UNC and UT in football.
The reason I posted this was because of the player mentioned in the War Room that seems to have put UT on the back burner in favor of UNC. I guess considering that there are going to be so many bowls in the next two years that they are going to be forced in some cases to take teams without winning records and perhaps even a losing record so that perhaps UNC might make it to a bowl game after all.
