Hey ya'll. Thought I would share a few of my thoughts and observations.
First let me say that last night was Wyoming and Dooley vs Kentucky bad. There was no way that USCe should have been in that game, much less leading from wire to wire. That was not a good football team at all and anyone who tries to rationalize it any other way is deluding themselves. Big time coaching staffs don't lose to teams like that. We were totally unprepared and uninspired coming off of a bye week with the SEC East in our sights and that is the gameplan and effort that we put forth? Unacceptable on many levels.
Secondly, a lot of folks are calling for an OC change and I get it. However, this is Butch's scheme that he wants to run. He had a chance to change it before Bajakian left and he declined. He's not going to give up creative control of the offense to anyone. This scheme is what it is going to be. Slow developing run plays and complicated route tree. He has made his mark as an "offensive" mind. That's his identity, he's not giving that up. Whoever is calling plays while Butch is here will be running Butch's scheme.
Third, he's going to be here until his contract is up or he decides to cut bait. He's got an ego and an image that he has/is building. IMO, he will leave while he can still spin his "success" here before he will allow himself to be fired.
Fourth, there are some issues internally that have been brewing for awhile that were managed because we were winning. Losing exacerbates all issues. They are going to have address those issues if they are going to salvage any part of this now dissapointing season.
We are going to struggle from here on out even if we win out. There are deficiencies due to scheme and injuries that will make these last 4 games a grind. If we can't win the east this year, with this roster, it's most likely not going to happen with Butch at the helm.
