The SEC in 2018
Lets make some "out there" prognostications for 10 years down the road.
Alabama-Saban leaves after winning the SEC in 2011. Heads to the Oakland Raiders after Lane Kiffin is fired. Alabama hires Will Muschamp and returns to more consistent winning, but doesnt win another SEC Championship.
Auburn- Tuberville retires after the 2013 season. Auburn wins the SEC in 2010 and plays for, but loses in the National Championship game to Oklahoma in 2010. Auburn has problems adjusting to life after Tubs for a few years and falls off a bit from 2013-2016, allowing Alabama and Mississippi State to move up in the SEC West hierarchy.
Florida- Florida wins another National Championship in 2009 over USCw. Meyer stays with Florida through 2018 and wins 4 SEC Championships from 2009-2018.
Georgia- Georgia has a great year in 2008, but loses to Florida and LSU derail any hope of a National Championship. Georgia Wins the SEC in 2012 and 2013 they play for the National Championship, but lose to Ohio State, led by Tyrelle Prior. Richt leaves Georgia for Miami in 2016. Georgia hires Mike Kelly, who left Cinncinnati in 2012 for Michigan State.
Ole Miss- Nutt stays until 2014. The Rebels have some winning seasons, but Nutt grows tired of unreal expectations at Ole Miss and bolts for retirement. Ole Miss hires Mike Bobo from Georgia as Head Coach.
Mississippi State-Croom keeps moving the Bulldogs up more and more, but cant get them over the hump, that is LSU, Bama and Auburn. Croom leaves in 2014. The Bulldogs steal Oregon Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly from the Ducks in 2014, one of the best minds in College Football and the Bulldogs return to the tope half of the SEC.
Arkansas-Petrino has miserable 2008 season. Arkansas does attract bigtime QB recruit in 2011 and the Hawgs become a pass happy team that plays for an SEC Championship in 2015, but loses to Tennessee.
LSU-Les Miles gambling ways catch up with him as Lousiana talent starts going west to Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma. LSU stays steady until 2016, when Miles is fired after not returning LSU to its glory days of the Early-Mid 2000s.
Vanderbilt- Who cares.
South Carolina. SOS has a great team in 2011, finishing second to UGA in the East and actually playing in a BCS bowl game. However SOS leaves in 2013 to retire to the golf course and South Carolina hires Charlie Strong, who leads South Carolina into their usual course of mediocrity.
Kentucky-Kentucky never again reaches the status of its 2007 team and Rich Brooks is let go in 2012. Kentucky continues its course of medicority through 2018.
TENNESSEE- The Vols upset Florida, but not Georgia in 2008. The Vols do not win another SEC Championship until 2015, Fulmer last year. That year, the Vols' early season loss to Florida that year will be Tennessee's only loss, keeping them out of a National Championship game between Miami and Michigan. Fulmer gallops off into the sunset and is replaced by Dave Clawson. However, this hire is not made from within, as Clawson leaves in 2012 to be head coach at Virginia after Al Groh retires. Clawson returns to Knoxville and wins a SEC Championship in 2018 over Alabama.
