Recruiting job, and here's why. The Title IX lawsuit hit right after signing day last year and caused a lot of negative buzz on the recruiting trail. This took a few months to resolve. Then u add the negativity of losing to SC And Vandy which was his fault, as well as the players, but that caused such a major outcry from the media and fans that the negativity was unbearable, even for those of us who are die-hard fans. You add the Haney Article and the "Hot Seat" talk, with no AD to counter anything, and it is amazing that Butch held on to this class. The AThletic Department is a skeleton crew as people are fearing job security with no AD, and running to other jobs. He still was able to land the number 1 commit in the country, and hang on to the better players. hung onto Labruzza even though his home-state pushed hard. Hung onto Bailey when Norte Dame came calling. hung on to Murphy. Hung on to Shamburger when His home state made a push. This is a very solid recruiting class. It could have totally blown up in his face with all the negativity in the media and fan base. Credit Butch for holding it together. With basically no help from above....
