Took a few minutes to watch some film on some of the guys we are after.
Adrian Martinez would be a great get and great fit for this offense. I am really impressed by this kid and wish we had been on him a long time ago. He shows great touch in the passing game and acceleration in the running game. Mechanically he is very sound. I'm not familiar with his level of competition in California, but everything else equal, he appears to be just a notch below Lawrence. I may get killed for this, but I think he's on a very similar level as a prospect as Fields and Jones. Fields arm may have another RPM or two on it and Jones looks more physically developed in stature, but I really think Martinez is in their range.
Cammon Cooper is definitely a take but a notch below Martinez. He appears to be long and toolsy but very few of his highlights are rhythm throws within the structure of the offense. His best work appears to be when the play breaks down - this doesn't translate well from high school to the SEC, but there is clearly talent there to work with.
I don't see Penix as an SEC QB. His upper and lower body are as disconnected in his throwing as anyone I've seen, much less as a big time QB recruit.
