ZZ is at the FT line with 3 seconds to play, but there's two guys in the paint and a trail guy. He had just had a lay up blocked. I would guess he had the option to go to the rim if he thought he could get there with a look.
He throws to JJJ who has a wide open look as a result of that open look the guy guarding Santi came off Santi and Santi was wide open on the baseline so there were two open looks there. Olivier crashed towards the glass and was just blasted by the Texas defender knocking him down eliminating any possible put back.
it was a good look for sure. Santi would have had a great look as well. Could ZZ have gotten to the rim and got a shot off? He had time to but I'm not sure he could have gotten a shot off given the traffic in the paint.
Again, make free throws, don't foul at the end of the half. Santi had a wide open look a possession earlier. Don't go 6 minutes without scoring. Don't go 30 minutes of the game not attacking the basket. Etc, etc.
This team's offense is woeful. Texas did the best job of anyone this year taking Santi away from the perimeter.
And this team hasn't been able to make a game winner. Couldn't against Texas Tech, Alabama, or Texas.
It's Feb. I don't think this offense is going to suddenly take off. Tennessee is good defensively. They play hard. They just can't score especially against good defenses which is why you have to make free throws and you can't give up cheap points and in tournament style possession by possession games, someone has to knock down a shot.
If you would have said Tennessee held Texas to 52 points and only 37 fg attempts. You would have said Vols win. Vols had more fg attempts than Texas had points and lost. Tennessee also forced 18 turnovers. Tennessee's points off turnovers percentage has to be one of the worst. They don't get enough points off other teams mistakes
