Obviously we ALL want/expect a great recruiting class EVERY cycle, but think about this. What do we REALLY have to sell to a recruit right now? I mean really. Sure the opportunity to play early (which every program makes that statement now.) We have great facilities, but so does most everyone else! (that wasn't the case in our heyday.) We have great academic support (yep...kids here that everywhere they go). History/tradition?...well that doesn't carry a ton of weight with today's recruit. My point is this...it's been 20 years since we were a true national power. Today's high school senior wasn't even born yet! We've been consistently down for a LONG time (Nebraska can relate). There comes a time when you have to show recruits something different. If we're going to EVER become the TN of old it's going to have to show on Saturdays! It's going to take a coach who can do more with less, win a few games that we shouldn't be in, and SHOW that with just a few more game changers... this program can be special again. I know that MANY of you don't want to hear such logic (and that's ok)...but we are what are records say we are for the last 20 years...a VERY average SEC team. It's going to take time/patience (ever heard that before?). But I personally feel that for the first time since Fulmer, we FINALLY have a legitimate "football coach". It's my hope that it finally starts to show on Saturdays! Go Vols!
