I totally believe the way you can constantly be in the nat. title chase is to have the following:
1-Whole state behind you.
2-Control over local/state papers and the handling of info
3-AD/Pres. and school 110% behind whatever you decide to do, including professors and academias.
4-Local police & DA in your pocket.
5-Numerous willing boosters at all levels helping out potential criminal situations.
6-Lots of former players/alumni coaching around the south always chatting up the university.
7-Preference in Conference offices as to scheduling venues, and other favoritisms as needed.
This my friends allows for a lot smoother ride when you have so many winds at your back. Bama
does this and practically assumes this is their normal MO.
