Jeremy Foley did it without thought when he brought in Billy Donovan as Florida's basketball coach to growth Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer, to create a dynamic dual sport juggernaut.

Yes, a school can be both a football and a basketball school. The only things that stand in the way or short-sightedness and ego.

Yesterday, we saw Rick Barnes use his ego to stand up for the University of Tennessee Basketball Program and force UT Athletic Director, Phil Fulmer, to blink and commit the Volunteers to being both a football and a basketball school.

The Vols had historically poured millions in cash in coaching staff members bank accounts, in hopes of producing greatness on the gridiron.

The basketball season had long been looked at as a fun distraction by many fans and if the team faltered in the NCAA Tournament, what little we spent on the program could be reproduced by any other coach out there for less money. Hence whoever we had success in basketball, we found some way to chase coaches off ands found our basketball program mired in hoops purgatory.

Yesterday, Rick Barnes ended that insane practice by the UTAD and its fans. The BasketVols have enjoyed a rebirth and it's success on the court and off the court has brought nothing but positive attention and light to our school on "The Hill".

Rick Barnes had the leverage and was able to use it to the full extreme to consent to committing the UTAD to the Vols basketball program in the form of a higher salary pool for assistant coaches and new multi-year deals fo the assistants. Rick Barnes can now go out and bring in the top assistant coaches in the country to help him recruit the best talent, develop talent, teach the game - all without the use of illegal cash from shoe companies and fake jobs programs used by some of the top schools in the country. Our basketball program will be a shining light on "The Hill", shining bright right top there with the football program.

This did not happen by accident win Barnes part and we have hm to thank for making the University of Tennessee and the University of Tennessee Athletic Department to see things his way. No lesser man than Rick Barnes could have made this happen. Barnes prides himself and his program on everything that Tennessee fans love…hard work, faith, integrity, and high character. Rick Barnes sold Phil Fulmer on the idea of investing in the long term future of continued success on the hardcourt and molding the high character student-athletes that the UT basketball program has been producing in his tenure at Tennessee.

Yes, the University of Tennessee is a Basketball and a Football School.
