For those caught up in Rivals rankings of Tim Jordan or RB's in general it is hard for Rivals to rank these guys the things they do at these camps doesn't translate to what makes a great RB. It is much easier to evaluate OL, DL. LB, DB, WR, even QB so after watching Jordan's film and Rivals rankings I decided to pull up the top NCAA rushers for this year and see where they were ranked by Rivals coming out of high school
NCAA Rushing Leaders
1) Donnel Pumphrey 3*
2) D'Onta Foreman 2*
3) Brian Hill 2*
4) Aaron Jones 2*
5) Dalvin Cook 5*
6) Jeremy McNichols 3*
7) James Flanders 3*
8) Anthony Wales 3*
9) Christian McCaffery 4*
10) Lamar Jackson 4*
So you may say to yourself so what that is not big time football only 4 of those guys play in power 5 conferences. Anybody can perform well at Boise State or San Diego State or even Western Kentucky. That is not the SEC big boy football ROOOOL TIDE, the big time. So I went and looked at the top ten rushers from the SEC for this past year and where Rivals had them ranked
1) Derrius Guice 5*
2) Nick Fitzgerald 2* QB
3) Rawleigh Williams 3*
4) Ralph Webb 3*
5) Kamyrn Pettaway 3*
6) Stanley Williams 4*
7) Nick Chubb 4*
8) Benny Snell 3*
9) Damarea Crockett 4*
10) Trayven Williams 4*
So half this list is 3* with one 2* QB and only 1 5*. Now I am not saying Jordan will be great or a top 10 rusher in the SEC or Nation by any means. What I am saying is I trust Coach G and his evaluation of what makes a scholarship worthy running back at Tennessee way more than I trust Rivals RB rankings. I trust Rivals rankings of any position on the board for the most part except for RB. Just found this to be interesting
