Without trying to read into motivations, that seems somewhat counter to most recruiting models I've seen. If I'm not mistaken, unofficial visits costs you very little but time; there aren't any limitations on how many either the prospect can take or the university can host. Again, from my perspective only, it would seem you would want to maximize the number of unofficial visits you host, kind of throw out the welcome mat for anytime a kid is in your vicinity. I realize there are logistics to handle - some advance notice is required - but get kids in to see your place and meet your team.
Am I missing some downsides of having too many unofficial visitors? Doesn't the football staff encourage lots of unofficial visits? TIA.
