This is a spinoff from the other thread discussing spots in the signing class. Some of the names & numbers I list below won't match up with LWS because he only counts official additions/subtractions.

Seniors:15
Saulsberry, Kerbyson, Jackson, Giampapa, O. Williams, Crowder, Maggitt, Ellis, Randolph, Jon Johnson, Weathered, McNeil, *Pearson, Pig Howard, & *RD Abernathy IV.

Juniors:15
O'Brien, Blanc, Blair, Bynum, Croom, Bullock, Latroy Lewis, Wiesman, Vereen, Sutton, Foreman, JRM, Swafford, Dobbs, North. (Lemond Johnson is no longer with the team)

Sophomores:22
Branisel, Kendrick, Sanders, Vickers, Josh Smith, Kamara, Wolf, Robertson, C. Thomas, Jakob Johnson, Elliot Berry, Evan Berry, Mixon, Medley, McDowell, Moseley, Barnett, Gaulden, TKJR, Malone, Hurd & Justin Martin.

Freshmen:33
Creamer, Mosley, Raulerson, Bryant, Bates, Hall, Jack Jones, Butcher, Kirkland, Griffin, Jennings, Dormady, Phillips, Tuttle, Mckenzie, Preston Williams, Richmond, Abernathy, Sapp, Sheriron Jones, D. Taylor, Boulware, Picuo, John Kelly, Z. Stewart, Austin Smith, Oliver, D. Miller, Townsend, Lovingood, Bruce, Perry & Joseph Young.

That is 85 scholarships. A couple observations, Butch has done a great job of turning this roster over. Also, it's amazing to me that we will have more Freshmen on scholarship than Jumiors and Seniors combined yet we will be in contention to win the East.

Hopefully this makes it easier for a few people to see why our class numbers will be so small. We are now dealing with the 85 man cap, so blue shirting doesn't help any.

With only 15 seniors and 15 juniors then that only opens up room to bring in 30 guys over the next TWO classes without attrition. Butch has done a great job of trimming the roster of non SEC caliber upperclassmen but those days are over. We need to be redshirting the younger guys and keeping them around so that they become 4th year juniors and 5th year seniors. We will have a few guys leave early for the NFL, guys with legal & grade issues and some missed evaluations that lead to underclass men moving on, but it will be interesting seeing Butch manage the numbers moving forward especially considering the 2017 instate class is supposed to be possibly the best ever.
