A couple of points:
1) Rick is loyal to his staff and wants them recognized and paid.
2) Rick went into his own pocket to increase coaches pay (note a NCAA violation) and the Ath Department has picked that up.
3) The Ath Department went deep pockets for Jeremy when he hired his staff.
4) When Jeremy wanted changes in his staff after last season, the Ath Department went even deeper into their pockets to bring in the new coaches. The three new coaches each make almost as much as Rick's entire staff.
I think that Rick does not begrudge Jeremy his support but he wants the same commitment level for resources and recognition extended to Basketball. I think that he is concerned about his resources when he has to replace staff for his current and future openings.
A note on LA Money.. Rick's Knoxville home woudl be over $10 Million in LA and over an hour commute. With the CAl and LA income taxes he would have to more then double his current salary in LA to break even with his TN take home pay
Relative to that even if all of his current coaches want to go with him the impact on them tax, cost of living, and income wise would be HUGE!
