Muschamp will not name QB starter until minutes before Vandy game. His spin on this is it will give them a competitive advantage so the opponent will not know who to prepare for. The truth is pretty simple though.

SC opens the season on the road with a late night Thursday game with Vanderbilt. Those games where a team sits around all day and into the evening can have strange results, especially for the visiting team. SC is a very young team (not just coach speak) and not only with new starters all over but also a lack of SEC talent at several positions.

Perry Orth, last years starter and former walk-on, is not going to lead them from the bottom of the heap. Their future, McIIwain, is a legitimate SEC talent but also a true frosh. No way Muschamp is going to start him at Vandy under those conditions.

By the time we play them look for McIlwain to be the starter or at least one of the starters if he goes platoon, which may happen. McIlwain offers the shamecocks a dual threat and also has a good arm.

SC ain't in a good place. I hope they stay there. GBO
