Has anyone read or heard anything in the past few months about the possibility of this happening?
The last thing I saw was this video where Boyd pretty much said there was no way it could happen before 2025 as the Sevier Co. officials are obviously very against it. I don't think that's a surprise to anyone

The good news is that it confirmed that this is what Boyd is trying to do however. It's an absolute no brainer as you can see what Downtown minor league parks have done for Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga, Asheville, etc. Still baffling that the decision was made to build it on an interstate exit that far away (45 minutes/1.5 hours roundtrip away from farragut, the place where most of the season ticket holders would have come from)
I still think a joint venture ballpark between UT and the Smokies sharing a stadium downtown within walking distance of restaurants/bars/etc is the thing to do. UT baseball is landlocked and is close to nothing
