When Beamer was hired there was the usual "he has no HC or coordinator experience" but he soon pretty well won over the fan base with his happy talk and created expectations that were higher than they should have been. With all our transfers and such they were pretty sure that UT would be in their win column. Just the opposite now.
Now that they have had to struggle against powerhouses ECU and Troy, there are signs of apathy and questioning all his happy talk, witness 50,000 at the Troy game. Not sure there were really that many fans. The upper decks were empty and some gaps in other areas too. Even Beamer mentioned the low attendance.
One of the complaints repeated in almost every football conversation here is that the cocks are boring, and they are. No one is calling for his head but there is no doubt that the feel good of the summer is in the rear view mirror and the road ahead is not a smooth one.
