Will our special teams be better this year? Also I don't think it was necessarily coaching that made our special teams much improved but instead the large upgrade in speed. Special teams is usually the first place an upgrade of speed and skill will show up on your football team so it's really not a big shocker that our special teams were so much better especially when it comes to coverage units. Losing Darr will hurt but we will be ok cause we will still have a lot of speed and plenty of talented players competing for a chance to earn the place on the special teams unit.
Think of this. At LB we have Weathered, Maybin, Bates, McDowell, Berry, Kirkland, J.Johnson, Bryant, Austin Smith and probably forgetting somebody but only two or maybe 3 of those guys will start on defense. The rest will be battling it out for special teams position which only makes us better.
