  • The City of Glendale reportedly threatened to lock the Arizona Coyotes out of their home venue, Gila River Arena, if the NHL team does not pay its outstanding $1.3 million in unpaid state and city taxes, as well as outstanding arena invoices from the 2020-21 season owed to management company ASM Global, by Dec. 20. (The Athletic) The Coyotes in a statement blamed "an unfortunate human error" for the delinquency and said they would be "current on all of our bills and owe no state or local taxes whatsoever" by this morning.   • The University of Miami is expected to hire Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich to the same position, according to multiple reports, just days after nabbing new head football coach, Mario Cristobal, from the University of Oregon. Radakovich, who earned his MBA from Miami in 1982, helped establish Clemson as an athletic powerhouse during his nine-year tenure at the school, which included two national championships in football and a reported near doubling of department revenue to $120 million in 2019.   • The University of Maryland became the first Big Ten school to sign a corporate partnership agreement with a sports betting operator, agreeing to a deal with PointsBet Holdings Ltd. that will grant the Australia-based bookmaker exposure at the university's football and basketball facilities, as well as across its digital platforms. PointsBet's 2020 deal with the University of Colorado was the first betting partnership for an NCAA athletic department, and only a handful of other schools, including UNLV and LSU, have since partnered with a sportsbook. Florida State is set to make Louisville's Vince Tyra its new director of athletics. Tyra, who has been Louisville's Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics/Director of Athletics since 2017, was allowed out of his contract during a special U of L Board of Trustees meeting that was called Wednesday afternoon.

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby says shifting early signing period being discussed amid coaching carousel

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said Wednesday there have been preliminary discussions with the NCAA's football oversight committee and in coaching circles about possibly changing the early signing period for recruiting. Bowlsby, a former chair of the oversight committee, said the American Football Coaches Association also has started talking about shifting the signing period, which began in 2017 and allows prospects to sign with schools in mid-December rather than on the first Wednesday in February.

GSE to launch NIL representation division

WWE Selects 15 College Athletes for First NIL Program Class

The sports entertainment giant has selected 15 college athletes to take part in the inaugural version of the Next in Line program as they call it, with the class encompassing participants in sports like track and field, basketball, amateur wrestling, and football. Among those taking part are A.J. Ferrari, the wrestler from Oklahoma State, as well as Haley and Hanna Cavinder, basketball players from Fresno State.
