Many college athletic leaders do not expect the Rose Bowl, entrenched in its tradition and historically protected by its longtime relationships with the Pac-12 and Big Ten, to move its time-honored kickoff time and date of mid-afternoon on Jan. 1. The decision would present problems to the scheduling model that CFP decision-makers outlined last month, in which six bowls-presumably the current New Year's Six-would be in a rotation to host the quarterfinals and semifinals.

Alabama QB Bryce Young approaching $1M in endorsement deals, says coach Nick Saban

Alabama football coach Nick Saban hasn't officially named Bryce Young the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback, and yet Saban says that Young is already approaching $1 million in endorsement deals. Saban told the Texas High School Coaches Association's convention on Tuesday that Young, a sophomore, is due to make "ungodly numbers."

UNC launches first group licensing program under new NIL policy

UNC has launched a group licensing arrangement for its student athletes under the new name, image and likeness (NIL) policy, becoming the first university to create a group program. The Tar Heels, who announced the arrangement on Tuesday, partnered with The Brandr Group to allow all athletes to profit from NIL in conjunction with UNC's official trademarks and logos.

MEAC commissioner to step down

MEAC commissioner Dr. Dennis E. Thomas announced Tuesday that he is retiring in December. Thomas, who completed his 19th year at the helm, is the longest-tenured commissioner in the 50-year history of the MEAC. The Council of Presidents and Chancellors will conduct a national search for a successor.

John Brody headed to Learfield IMG College as CRO
