  • The Washington Commanders may have engaged in unlawful financial conduct, according to a 20-page letter sent from the House Committee on Oversight and Reform to the Federal Trade Commission, which highlighted allegations that the team and its owner, Daniel Snyder, withheld up to $5 million in refundable season ticket deposits and hid money intended to be shared among other owners. The allegations, which surfaced during the committee's inquiry into the Commanders' workplace and the NFL's handling of the matter, were made by Jason Freidman, a former vice president of sales, who told committee members the Commanders kept "two sets of books."   • The San Francisco Giants' Alyssa Nakken, an assistant coach who works with base running and outfield defense, became the first woman in MLB history to coach on the field during a regular season game after she replaced coach Antoan Richardson, who was ejected in the third inning of last night's contest between the Giants and the San Diego Padres. The 31-year-old Nakken also became the first woman to coach in MLB in any capacity after she was hired to the Giants' staff in January 2020. (Associated Press)
  • FIFA has launched a streaming platform, FIFA Plus, with plans to stream 40,000 live matches per year featuring its 100 member associations. The international soccer governing body's new digital venture, which is currently free but could include a subscription fee in the future, will feature 11,000 women's matches, 1,400 monthly live streamed matches at launch and over 2,000 hours of archived content dating back to the 1950s.
