I've run into a situation where I have Tectum roof deck loose laid over 3' O.C. steel joists. The actual Tectum is still pulling good enough numbers to use, but it's not fastened down to the structure. It's tounge-in-groove without any adhesives, fasteners or bulb-tees.
Common sense tells me that it should be fastened to the structure so it can transfer lateral pressures throughout the rest of the structure, but I can't seem to locate the exact area in ASCE 7 to show my client. 2012 IBC points me back to ASCE 7. I have the book but I can't seem to find the part that tells me "the roof deck must be fastened to the structure."
