Talk to me about fishing below Center Hill Dam.

I've never fished below a dam in my life. Spent a ton of time on the Buffalo and Duck, and many years ago I fished the Caney Fork.

My 13 year old has it in his head that fishing below the dam is where we need to be. Gonna go in the next couple weeks.. Any advice?
