All of this talk about expectations, history, how our rivals fare, etc.....convinced me to do a little research. I used 1982 because I was 9 years old in 1982 and that is when I started following the Vols....plus 35 years is pretty good round number and it was not too long after that that the majority of our games started being on television.
Since, no other SEC school, outside of these 6, have won an outright SEC title since 1962 ...(Kentucky tied Georgia in 1976)....I only used these 6 schools

Looking at the Best 10 year stretches......Tennessee picked a bad time to de-emphasize athletics because 4 of our rivals made opposite moves to get their crap together and the results are dramatic.
Question going forward.....Does our administration went to be Tennessee of 1982-2006 or Tennessee of the last 10 years? Because our competitors have clearly chosen the path they want to be on......how UT responds will be my guide over my future expectations of the football program. School needs to be all in or we need re-adjust our expectations as fans because our rivals do not appear to be backing up any towards us, we will have to run them down and catch them. Hope our new/future administration feels like starting the chase.
