I am usually on here constantly but rarely post but I felt the need to get on here today and say "Thank you". I work for the City of Pigeon Forge Fire Department and have been working the fires in the Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge area for the past three days. Thank you each and everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this time. On Monday, we assisted GFD on a brush fire just above Mynatt Park. The fire was semi-contained until then the winds came. Hot embers were flying everywhere causing multiple fires (both brush and structural). It was as if it was a storm of hot embers. Since the wind gusts were approximately 70-80mph in Gatlinburg, fires were popping up from Gatlinburg to the Dollywood / Upper Middle Creek area all at the same time. I have never witnessed fire like I have over the past 3 days and hope I never do again. It has been so hard on everyone to see foundation after foundation like we have over the past 3 days.
The Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area will rebuild and be stronger than it was ever before but our community does need you to continue to remember us your prayers. The support and appreciation that the community has received has been nothing short of amazing. We all thank you for your generosity!.
