"According to multiple sources, Chancellor Dr. Beverly Davenport wants to be a part of the search and isn't just going to rubber stamp a hire. Chattanooga's David Blackburn and Tennessee's John Gilbert remain the top two candidates with Blackburn the favorite. Now it will be interesting to see if another candidate or two come on the scene and multiple sources this week would not rule out that possibility. It's expected that they will have formal interviews and that those interviews will be done by a committee of people that will include Davenport, University president Dr. Joe DiPietro among several others which is expected to include some Board of Trustee members as well. It's safe to say that some in the University are growing impatient with the lack of movement in the search as clearly some are ready to get the leadership roles solidified."
