Now Pruitt is … well, I wouldn’t say threatening that. But he is definitely on that long-awaited recruiting roll: Two five-stars committed in a five-day span last month. Aaron Willis, a four-star linebacker ranked just outside the national top 100, committed last week, giving the Vols an incredible 21 commitments already in its 2021 class. If you go to the 247Sports Composite team recruiting rankings for the current cycle there is Tennessee, sitting impressively in the No. 2 spot, behind only Ohio State.
When Pruitt got the job at Tennessee there was little doubt that he would recruit well. Now that he is, we may be inching closer to the SEC East actually being what it should be most seasons: Georgia, Florida and Tennessee in a yearly tussle for superiority, with occasional flashes from others.“

“During his two years at Georgia, I saw Pruitt recruit two three-stars who became first-round NFL draft picks (Deandre Baker and Johnathan Abram) and another who was a four-year starter and tied the program record for interceptions (Dominick Sanders). Pruitt should also get credit for discovering Aaron Davis, an unrecruited walk-on to Georgia who, after Pruitt evaluated him as better than that, ended up a four-year starter. The man has an eye for talent.”

Georgia recruiting class ranks:
2017: 3rd
2016: 6th
2015: 6th
2014: 8th
2013: 12th
That Georgia talent base was on an upward trajectory even before Smart came on board, thanks in part to the arrival in 2014 of … wait for it … Jeremy Pruitt.
The trick will now be whether Pruitt’s 2021 class can finish near the top. That’ll be tough, but if he can hold onto and sign the two currently committed five-stars then that’s a foundation. And even though the Vols are close to the signing limit, there’s still room for a couple more blue-chips. It’s a good bet Tennessee finishes in the top 10, perhaps the top 5. That would be huge for a program trying to build a talent base to contend in the SEC East.”
there is a lot more meat in the pay $ article, just hitting a few UT highlights...
