I saw this story on the Rangers proposal for a new stadium and wanted the opinion of people on the board. Does anyone on here actually still support public financing for new stadiums for professional teams?
I think what is happening here also happened with the Braves new deal, if I'm correct? And they took the page from Dan Snyder, the biggest asshole owner in professional sports. The original proposal for the Rangers new stadium was supposedly a 50/50 split of $1 billion, but about $300M of the Rangers cost is going to be subsidized by a new parking tax levied on the public.
This new method, which I'm almost positive the Braves got on their new deal, is the biggest sham in a long line of shams by professional teams. Cities and citizens across the country need to start standing up against these owners and calling their bluff. Make it impossible for them to even threaten leaving when possible destination cities tell them the F off, as well. This act is getting tired.
