This team regardless of finish deserve a standing ovation at the end of they year........it is so easy to mike snide remarks about coaching when we lose and certain players being "busts" but I don't think most of you realize what they were up against heading into this year.
These kids had to deal with new coach, new teammates, new system. This in its own right doesn't get talked about enough. Our best player is playing completely out of position and doing an incredible job of it. Moore and Reese have shown the kind of improvement that is a testament to their dedication to the team and to the hard work they put in into the off-season. Everyone pretty much wrote them off in the off-season. Their contributions have been incredible and let's not forget they chose top stick with this university and stick with their teammates.
The job Donnie Tyndall and staff have done getting this team to gel and play as a unit might be the best coaching job I have seen on the basketball court in a long long time (including all of Bruce's years, and I loved Bruce). Basketball is one of the few sports left where a great "team" can overcome talent. Getting these kids to buy in and to play as a team is fun to watch.
Hopefully this NCAA stuff clears because I have been following UT basketball as close as football since the Jerry Green days (showing my age here) and as far as a true coaching job, what this team is accomplishing is way up there on most impressive things I've seen. Need to hang on to Donnie......
Was hesitant to write this now because this team still has plenty of time to crash and burn but after watching the last few games I just don't see any way that happens with the coach we have in place.
