Just need to vent and get some words off my chest before calling it a night.
Wasn’t around for Army, N. Texas or Rutgers, was for Wyoming but that was different being the week Fulmer was fired!
Not even sure where to start , from the time my son and I along with a friend and his son stepped out of the car and headed down the strip about 1:30 there was no feel on the strip. No Rocky Top playing , not many tailgates going , not the Cumberland Ave I remember as a kid. The excitement of being on campus for a game day!
Then on to the stadium , the most exciting plays of the day was the forming of the T and DWA long pass down the sideline.
From play 1 we looked confused and play 2 started the disaster!
Why throw the ball backwards on the second play of the season ?
The OL and DL need lots of work so why not pick the best group and run with them?
Or did we literally take Ga. State so lightly we just planned to play everyone and had little to no game plan ?
As they often say in coaching and sports , if you don’t think it’s a big game just lose it and see.
When your OL is weak and not ready someone explain why we are in 5 wide so often? JG isn’t a threat to run and that severely limits picking up blitzing and stunts.
JG slides to make it a 3rd and short 1 , the QB sneak isn’t executed for the 1st down.
It’s 4th and a foot , line up and give the ball behind Trey and Wayna and move the sticks.
Stop playing not to lose!
Next the drive before the half was simply depressing as a fan. How that happens at an SEC school with the $$ and resources we have is beyond me. That gives me 0% confidence in my staff as a fan!
Not sure who I should yell at for that , Pruitt , Chaney or JG! But that cost us 4 points easily and almost cost us 7. Beyond pathetic!!
Then after the half we FINALLY come out of the locker room with about 2 minutes on the clock.
But still looking unprepared as GA State takes the ball right down the field and scores to re take the lead.
Did we prepare for BYU ?
Where did Ty Chandler go after the half ?
Why did we attempt 50 passes to 20 tailback runs ?
Why did we pay Chaney and Ansley big $$?
Yes I know Butuli And Thompson were missing and still maybe next week but are they that important to the D?
Did JG really regress that bad in 9 months since we’ve last seen him.
Let’s remember that’s 3 games in a row he’s not played well. (Mizzou, Vandy , GAState)
Man tonight sure feels like the end and maybe it is but maybe it isn’t.
Next weeks is HUGE ! Win and 7-5, 6-6 is still possible. Lose and we may seriously be looking at a 2 or 3 win season.
Does Pruitt have the off field issues that some on campus say ?
Need some leadership this week and need it quickly!
Will we ever be back ?
Will my kids ever get to see us be good ?
