Thoughts on recruiting

You take kids who you are genuinely excited about. You often have a few more on the line than you need because these are 18 year old kids. You expect them to screw up or change their minds. No man who makes his living off of guys this age can afford to be confident in their judgement and decision making.

Sometimes though, you wind up having a bunch of great kids who stick to their guns and come signing time you have too many. Unfortunately at this time you have to cut a good kid or two and that is never pleasant for anyone involved, but you know if you had recruited right at your number that some would have turned on you and there you would be not set up to succeed.

I don't think this is bad on any party. Sometimes this is just what happens even when everyone does what they are supposed to. If it wasn't Ford it would have been someone else. I wish the kid the best and I hope he stays healthy and turns into a heck of a player. Also I hope he doesn't take this as an insult because I don't see any way that it is.
