He is a proven recruiter. He took an anemic program and turned it around full circle. He is a class act. He energized a fan base and started the VFL program which is HUGE. Also, the graduation rate has increased significantly. There is not question in my mind if he can manage a big time program
I think his biggest negative is his loyalty to his assistants. Changes should have been made before now with an offensive line coach and secondary as well. Improvement at qb coach is needed immediately. A true manager of any job must do whatever it takes to get the job done right and that includes tweaking your staff until you have a smooth running machine.
Tennessee is going to have to take a position on Butch. Either renew his contract to ease recruits concerns and also so he can hire excellent position coaches who will not fear a one and done. Also, Butch must re-dedicate himself to Tennessee publicly and vow to do whatever it takes to improve. This AD issue could not come at a worse time in my opinion.
