because he's a lame duck coach...Who exactly is saying Butch is on the hot seat? He's guided us from 5 to 7 to 9 wins with a chance at another 9 win season this year. We beat our longtime east nemesis and rivals Florida and Georgia. We beat ACC championship game participant Virginia Tech. The only group I see having him on the hot seat are posters from Volquest. If you put that label on him, you're simply not being realistic and you're setting him up to fail. Assistant coaches will see his track record of winning at Central Michigan, Cincinnati, and what he's been able to accomplish here and know he needs a lot of help on defense. Very little is wrong with our offense, but you can't play shootouts week to week in the SEC and win. We need assistant coaches who can work with and develop what we have on our roster next season and recruit better. It's a different sport, but look how much of a difference one hire on our baseball team made to our offense. Looking ahead, recruits are going to see a lot of opportunity for early playing time. There's still a ways to go before NSD.

Ask yourself this...should the following coaches be fired right now? They've had a disappointing season and finish...

Hugh Freeze?
Bret Bielema?
Mark Dantonio?
Bobby Petrino? (his defense lost it for him. should he be given a chance to fix it or should he be fired?)

Putting Butch on the hot seat this early and saying all hope is lost after all these injuries is just plain stupid. If you want instant satisfaction and perennial perfection, go join the Bama bandwagon. Butch has taken us this far and he deserves a chance to fix it with no pressure.
