Story's commitment got me to thinking about the emphasis Pruitt is putting on recruiting the state of Alabama. Certainly, talent and connections come into play here. Even so, it feels like we're getting an inordinate number of Alabama athletes on campus this year under Pruitt compared to years past under, well, anybody.
Which makes me wonder if this isn't about more than just talent and connections. It almost feels like Pruitt is making a statement, like that scene in a movie where the new guy picks a fight with the biggest, baddest motherf*@&er on the prison yard as a way of saying "I'm coming for you." Aggressively recruiting and taking kids right out from under Saban's nose feels no different.
