When last year ended I felt good about the Vols. We have a lot of "Potential Talent" coming back that would be more mature and would play better. I felt that the incoming players could help at the Guard Position and on the front line. After the last couple of weeks, I have really felt good about the way the team is playing. The team's depth and versatility really gives folks problems. They play defense the entire game and finish games well. Their play in all areas is better then last year.
I started to think about Tourney play and realized that this is a team no one would would want to play as a second game in a Tourney. They are a handful when you are fresh, but playing this team with fresh legs when you just played the night before is not good news. Their depth and rotation makes this a team to compete in a Tourney. We should realize that Coach Barnes is playing Pons, Walker, and Johnson more because they have earned it at practice but it also is getting them ready for the end of the season.
Bama's size and athleticism are a problem but if the guards play defense it really disrupts their offense. It is a old story, we want to run and they want to run. If we rebound, they cannot run and we can. Their half court offense is not good ours is.
