First off, AP and I try and wrap up the day, but wanted to try and flesh out a few things.
First, from a work standpoint, this was just an absolute crazy day. Obviously, we believed a few guys were going to pop and tried to have all of that ready, but as I said throughout the week, this is just one of those things where a guy or two may pop that surprises us all.
That was certainly the case with Lawson and Coleman.
Now, on to the 'Stars' issue.
I get it, yes, it is eight commitments, but only one four-star. There are a few guys I think Tennessee could end up getting better, but there are a few of these guys I really like.
I'm a big fan of Theo Jackson and Tennessee saw him camp earlier this month and loved him. Same with Bumphus. I like both of those guys quite a bit.
I like Coleman as well. If you could get Chandler and Akers then more power to them, but I think that's going to be hard. Coleman can be a really good in my opinion.
I really like Taylor in 2018 as a receiver. He has over 3,000 rushing yards in his first two years and that's impressive.
Now, there are some ifs in this group as well. Fant has to get healthy and back to being explosive. Lawson has to fill out and continue to smooth out the rough edges to his game. Tucker is massive, huge, but he needs to reshape his body.
But, overall, I think it was a good day for Tennessee. And let's be honest, things have worked out for this staff for finish with two top five classes in two out of the last three years. But, we will see how things play out.
