From Buckeye Grove:

Latest on Jones
One of the more interesting things to watch this weekend was the visit of 2018 Rivals100 QB Emory Jones to Tennessee. Ohio State knocked the unofficial visit out of the park earlier in the week but Jones told us that regardless of how well the visit went, he was going to follow through on his Clemson and Tennessee visits.

As we reported during the week, the Clemson visit did not live up to what Ohio State showed Jones earlier in the week, leaving the Tennessee trip as the last hurdle for the Buckeyes before an expected announcement.

As things began to unfold on Saturday in Knoxville, it was a monster day for the Vols. Butch Jones and his staff landed an impressive eight verbal commitments for their big Orange Carpet day, but Jones was not one of them.

"It was crazy (being there while all of the commitments were happening)," Jones told me. "I had fun."

I'm told Jones' plan now is to take about 48 hours and completely get away from recruiting. That likely means no interviews, no talking to coaches, and possibly not even talking to those around him about recruiting. He had a long week on the road and I think he just wants to be a teenager for a few days before he jumps back into the decision making process.

From there, I am told to expect an announcement soon, as early as this week. I do believe the Tennessee visit was a good one for Jones, certainly better than the Clemson trip, but I do not believe it was enough to pull Jones away from Ohio State.

If an announcement comes this week, I still expect it to be in the Buckeyes' favor, but will keep an eye on things throughout the next few days to see if anything changes. I also do not expect Tennessee to stop recruiting Jones if he commits to Ohio State in the near future.
