I know there are Army folks who dont like/care for USMA folks. I get it, just like sometimes 'ringbangers' from Goldman drive me nuts in my business.
But Ive been meeting with a ton of these USMA Cadets today and having dinner with a ton of them tonight - and hell, some of these kids are incredibly talented, motivated, intelligent young people.
The stuff they are doing there is unreal - what they teach these kids, prepare them for/to face - just unreal.
Hell, I was just glad to wake up without handcuffs on when I was in school! Tons of "yeah, I have to get up at 5am so I can do this additional study/conf call, etc etc." "Im fluent in 2 languages and studying cybersecurity coding, etc" WTF??? I get to meet a lot of really academically smart people and gifted business people/traders in my business. Even in comparison, some of these kids are still off the charts.
Im sure they have knuckleheads just like Harvard and Cambridge do, too. (ie - this prior Spring Break fiasco. I actually feel bad for some of them because after sh** like that happens --- everyone pays the price. That place right now is on double lockdown and if you mess up - its 2x the punishment. Normal services example...).
All that said, it makes me breathe a sigh of relief when meeting very smart, capable young people who are hopefully in charge of defending this country in the future. Im glad we have young, selfless people who are driven to protect all of us -- and we have young people who arent just slobbering on themselves while they follow all the ignorant sh** on the internets/ticktock/Kardashian world, and are doing meaningful, important stuff.
I am deeply grateful for all parts of the services and all ranks, either thru assignment from the colleges or thru enlistment.
