Wanna see a recipe for financial disaster?
- Football and basketball revenues are not going to be there. You can book that.
- Academically there is little to no reason to attend UT. Or even re-attend... for existing students.
- Many professors fall in the “at risk” category and, with their tenure in-tow, will be much less willing to return if they don’t feel safe.
- The brand of the university has been on the decline for two decades.
- They are not prepared, statewide, to be a leader in online education.
- Bars and large social gatherings will be limited for the next year (bye bye sorority and fraternity houses).
- Downtown businesses are being decimated right now and will take years to return. Not to mention the real estate market is going to wilt under the fear of a “second and third wave”.
- The cost of campus upkeep, staff (academic, athletic and administrative) and debt is going to be devastating for the university without all the revenues.
