College sports is in no way amateur at this point with the Nil . UT is going to have a point man( similar to Gm in pro sports ) to help coordinate with the private group or groups to help them to know how to prioritize individuals . The Texas schools are like the Yankees and Lakers without a salary cap. UT and others schools are going to have to figure out how to use their resources .
It isn’t going to go back to loyalty to state or school. It will become almost totally a job interview . It is sad from a fan perspective but I can’t blame an eighteen year old for wanting to make as much as he can. We will just be fans of a pro team now. That isn’t the worst thing that can happen but might make some reconsider if “ donations” for tickets is a good use of their money if they want to see a good product. Facilities won’t be all that important if they are decent. You will need to get money to players . It is a totally new game
