Vertical Routes vs. Horizontal routes? What's easier for a QB?

imo it would seem a 3 step drop and hitting your tight end over the middle or a wide out in the slot on a streak would be easier.

Throwing to a receiver immediately with the defender 3 yards off seems more challenging.
