VFF - can you give a brief summary on how margin calls work?

In times like these for brokers? When you’re liquidating, it’s just sell whatever to get your money back right? How much of this free-fall is being driven by that and also it seems like these leveraged etfs may be a problem. A ton of people were short uvxy at $12. It’s $85 now. This could be the next real big bubble?
