VFL Thoughts:
Butch Jones is a VFL. He has committed to this program 110% and bleeds orange. There is no other volunteer in the country players/coaches/fans/etc. that has cared or worked harder for the Tennessee than he has.
With that being said, he needs to start building/mending this team to be a "WINNING" program. No longer can he fall back on close relationships and previous relationships on his coaching hires.
Offensively, he needs to lose his pride on his offensive philiosophy and either change his offensive style/fire Mike De"boring" (add more I-Formation/Power offense if Hurd is going to be utilized) OR he needs to stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole (Hurd in spread offense) and only recruit speedy/elusive/shorter running backs like Kamara (Ty Chandler will be a huge addition).
Defensively, I'll give Shoop a pass for this year since it is his first year implementing his defensive scheme on top of losing key players = Top 3 DT's, Top 2 players: Maybin, Sutton, Stud MLB for majority of the year: Kirkland. We will get better on defense.
With all that being said, I still believe in Butch and our team. We still have above average talent on our team that can change their course by next week. We can win out, and it will not be a complete fail. Florida still can lose to Arkansas, LSU, and South Caroline. We can still make it to Atlanta. We have something to fight for. We just need to fight smarter....not harder.
