Good-----1. Beat Florida and Georgia
2. Made it to top 10, bowl game a given.
3. My teenage boys can be proud of their team relative to their friends that are fans of Auburn, Ole miss, Ms. St, Arkansas, LSU, Georgia, etc...........
4. The Florida game was an awesome experience to be there. Just a great game after halftime.
5. Watching Dobbs have those exciting runs and most of the time he is fun to watch.
6. No UT player has gotten into any serious trouble this season.
7. Barnett has had a really great junior year and may just get that record.
8. Malone, Kamara, Kelly have all had really good seasons and are guys really fun to cheer for.
9. Have been on CBS a number of times, hosted gameday. Vols back in prime time and the spotlight.
10. Our second half offense production almost every game has been fun to watch.
11. Ending to Georgia game. Although the better ending would have been Barnett sack/strip, Foreman pick, first down, clock runs out.........making Georgia suffer through that like we did so many times vs. them was gratifying...sort of (their td was painful)
Bad---------- 1. Loss to South Carolina
2. Florida getting into SECCG.
3. Still looking up at Bama
4. Appy St game. Just a terrible start to what should have been a blast of a game. The expectations were so high. Thursday night sucked for my schedule, but I took the plunge and drove up and back because I was so excited about this team and how dominant they were going to be in a lot of our games and we just laid an egg.
5. JRM and Cam getting hurt. It just sucks and takes the wind out of everyone's sails when guys that give so much, return for another year and can't have the season they deserve. Just hate it for JRM, especially. Other injuries suck too.
6. The way we lost to Tex A-M. We could tell, that was a set up game. They suck without their transfer qb, now. We turned it over 7 times. Had the miracle of all miracle wins set up when it went to overtime (or we could have gone for 2) and we didn't pull it out. We should have won in OT.
7. Our fans doing what I knew they would if the season didn't go perfectly right. Throwing fits and some complaining so much about our head coach that it is undermining his ability to recruit and keep things on track.
8. Hurd and Preston Williams quitting. Regardless of all the real stuff with Hurd, the fact that it was even an issue behind the scenes is really sad to me. I've been around and know what goes on inside a team is rarely as ideal as you'd like to believe. But, it saddens me that Hurd got such bad advice, that he was so individualistic going back to last year and that it took losing a game we shouldn't have to get it worked out, and the end result really didn't serve either side well.
9. Recruiting isn't great. I'm not a "this class stinks" guy. And I'm still optimistic that we will add Smith, Akers and probably 2 more guys that nobody is even thinking about when the "silly season" coaching carousel starts IF we can stabilize our own house.
10. Shoop hasn't gotten it done and our defense is embarrassing right now. I want Shoop to stay and prove that it was the injuries and first year of system stuff. But it is painful watching us trying to tackle, stop the run, play the deep ball, all of the above.
Just like most of you, I love the Vols. I love fall Saturdays and especially when our Vols play good, sound football and have fun to watch wins. I'm sad that we only have one more chance to see them this year before the bowl. I hope we can beat a solid Vandy team that isn't our best match up and then see some things clarify themselves staff wise. I hope we don't see significant attrition from the current roster and that we only lose the 'bad" coaches as if we know who those really are.
