Lipscomb is playing better this year even though the record doesn't show it. They very easily could have swept Belmont this year (and really should have if they could have just hit FTs and rebounded better). They beat TN Tech 104-85 a couple of weeks ago. They have a center named Marberry (Soph) that has really been playing well. Eli Pepper is another Soph that is talented. Nathan Moran is a Jr. Guard that can hit the 3-pointer. Mathews (another Soph) has been a pretty good scorer for them this year. Josh Williams is a talented player, but has not really been the same since he got injured last year (knee). They lost their leading scorer from last year (grad transfer to Tx A&M).
Vols should win and if they play their game they could win by a decent margin. If UT struggles with their shots, this one could get close if LU is hitting their shots. Again, I expect UT to play a more complete game than they did vs TTU and win going away.
I wonder how many times announcers will call it "David Lipscomb University" tomorrow? The "David" has officially been dropped from both the University and the Academy, but it still gets called that a lot by the sports media in this state.
