Has there ever been a more out of conditioned team in modern history than this bunch? Terry Forrester looks like somebody’s grandpa on the mound. Rick Camp, Rick Mahler, Bruce Sutter all could pass for hobos. Bob Horner, Ken Oberkfeld, “Obie” as he was called, Rick Cerone, Bruce Benedict, all look like used car salesmen. Then as out of shape as those guys were, you had bean poles like Paul Zuvella and Craig McMurtry. Then little guys like Gene Garber and Glenn Hubbard.
I’d say their weight room had a cigarette machine in it.
Dale Murphy and Claudell Washington were the only two that resembled athletes.
I’m surprised they won 10 games that year.
