They ended up hiring David Pierce who was at Tulane. Graduated from Houston and was a long time assistant at Rice before getting the head job at Sam Houston St. Was there for 3 years before heading to Tulane. Been to a regional every year as a head coach. Solid hire by Texas IMO.
