We did not play good baseball during the regionals but were able to win, primarily because the other teams had such poor pitching. But we did not have our A game in any game.

Something that is hard to understand is the starting pitching slump. Vitello does not overwork the pitchers and during the SEC tournament he obviously was setting up for the regionals. Individuals and teams go into hitting slumps and pitchers have off nights, but our starting pitchers seem to be in a collective pitching slump. By far the best and deepest in college baseball and all of a sudden all 4 cannot get get out the gate. Even Dolly got rocked. This started late in the season with the frosh sensations but now has spread. Last night with Blade it was like either strike them out or they hit a homer. Part of it is that our pinpoint control is not what it was, but it is more than that and is beyond me to know what it is.

We are due to have our A game and if we do not we will be another team that died of the # 1 curse. Come on Vols, play like you were playing.
