Weather, roads in Gatlinburg, Cades Cove area

I live in Florida, thinking of driving to/staying in Gatlinburg area to do some hiking in Cade's Cove area. I read Weather Channel forecasts, NPS recorded messages, and such, but it's hard to get a grasp what the roads are really like in those areas. Don't want to slide on icy roads and such. Any advice on the road conditions in those areas now? Thanks , guys.
