Traded cars the other day and the dealer screwed up and didn’t transfer my old ‘Power T’ tag to my new car, so I shuffled on down to the Blount County Courthouse to pick out a new one. After looking at all of those that were UT related, I was shocked that NONE of the tags had been updated in years.
The choices are 1) The ‘Power T’ tag that I used to have, however, it still has the old square “T”, not the new, elongated one that Nike starting using in the Dave Hart era. 2) The ‘University of Tennessee’ plate with the old UT shaped-as-the-state logo that was also replaced by the new ‘Power T’ a few years ago. 3) The UT Football ‘National Champions’ plate from 20 years ago (LOL).
You can also get a Lady Vols plate that still has ‘8 times National Champion’ which is pretty dated since the last one was over 10 years ago.
I see quite a few of these on cars as I drive around the state, so I would assume that the University receives a not-insignificant income stream from these plates and, you would think, be interested in keeping these up to date to maintain that income stream.
Anyone know whose job this is, @TNmavol ?
BTW, I picked out a nice, recently redone ‘Friends of the Smokies’ plate that has more orange on it than any of the UT plates and got a ‘Power T’ trailer hitch cover to show my allegiance to the Vols.
