This uniform stuff has taken on a life of its own. Attempts by radicals to change the traditional colors of the university have been off and on for at least 50 years. Once the tradition was broken with the black uniforms against S Carolina, the outcome became inevitable. The question is: Who is driving this and why? Clearly a decision has been made to gradually work new colors into acceptance. If I am incorrect, then it should stop. There is no reason to do it at places like Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, Penn State. Texas, Auburn or LSU. Are we no longer on par with them? All the years we were, we stayed loyal to the history and prestige of the orange and white. If orange and white is no longer good enough, then just say so (but that dog won't hunt).
Don't insult my intelligence by telling me its the players. Heupel may have let them make a decision, but it is only because he chose to give up his authority on the matter or he has been ordered to by higher ups. This stuff about honoring Tennessee's traditions is smoke. Heupel said it was the last thing brought up in the players meeting, but then turns around and tells us this is important to the players. Huh? These players came to Tennessee knowing what the damn school colors were. Somebody needs to go to a re-education camp. I think Josh has built a fine offense and has made us somewhat relevant again, but this unnecessary school colors stuff is dividing Vol Nation. This is a horrible tactical error. We are about to play No. 1 before the whole nation on CBS and we are too embarrassed to wear orange and white.
I've always thought Tennessee's school colors were unique, attractive and rich in history. Oh but wait, history is being rewritten with this left-wing bullshit that hates everything that is traditional. It is wrecking our nation. This stupid uniform stuff is unnecessary and is emblematic of a much bigger challenge facing our nation's future. I wish whomever is behind this would go read Russell Kirk, Edmund Burke or Richard Weaver. As Weaver wrote, "Ideas Have Consequences."
